Dayak versus Dayak in History
December 10th, 2012 at 5:15Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
(This is yet another article which appeared in the previous blog before. Happy reading Cikgu Iban)Dayak have been gullible, opportunist, self centered & easily exploited by others since time in memorial…written by Dr John Brayan Anthony 4th March 2010
Paranoid Politicians
I am not at all surprised when Nyarok Enterie won the VP post in recent SPDP TGM with full backing of Tiong King Sing. After all, the contender, who is my friend Philip Ngo is just testing the water. I am not surprised when Enteri Muran aka Mohd Abdullah and Nyarok Enteri resisted the motivational programmes conducted by Dayak Intellectuals – as they viewed such programmes as ‘eye opener’ “wake up call” for the longhouse folks & students – they are damm worried that their weaknesses be revealed to their voters! Typical of paranoid politicians and Jabu Numpang is the father of all paranoids!
Naïve & gullible
Whether we like or not, we have been very naïve, gullible and easy prey of sweet talks by others to serve their own need as far as our history can remember. I won’t discount the prowess of our fore father’s courage during the founding years of ‘ngerumpang batang, ngerumpang agang’, but in every strength we possess now and then, people easily exploit us and may continue to do so out of our own foolishness and the tunnel vision our leaders have had.
Early traitors
In 1861, when Rentap fortified his position in Mount Sadok to rebel the Brooke government, it was the Ibans warriors led by Nanang and Luyoh who were bought over by the Rajah to betray Rentap, teamed up with Malays & Iban Balaus who helped the Rajah to finally defeat him till he fled to his death. We also read how the Brooke regime used fellow Dayaks from Saribas to wage series of brutal war against fellow Dayaks in the Rejang tributaries who refused to submit to Rajah from 1870 till the early 1900s – all in the name of trying to establish power and exert control on Sarawak resources.
SNAP & PBDS demise
In early 1960s we heard how SNAP was formed to uphold and accommodate Dayak’s interests with imminent formation of Malaysia and how SNAP evolved into a strong Dayak political force which was feared by Sarawak Malays who then planned the eventual downfall of SNAP. How was it done? Out of personal enmity with Ningkan, Thomas Kana and the group were enticed to form PESAKA, who then colluded with Rahman and Taib to form PBB – a modern day tool for Taib and cronies to skin Sarawak resources to the bones.
Parti Pesaka
We also have read how Dayak leader then – Thomas Kana, Jugah , Sidi Munan (Jugah Advisor), Alfred Mason (Jugah Secretary) colluded with Taib and Rahman to declare loss of confidence in Ningkan government in 1969. After 1969/1970 general election, SNAP, PESAKA & SUPP won majority seats – and whilst discussing to form government, it was then 2 Mother-of-all Dayak traitors (Simon Dembab Maja & Pengulu Abok) were bribed and happily jumped ship – after being offered by Rahman and group to be window dressing ministers, which eventually subdued SNAP chance to lead the formation of government. A frail looking yet naive Tawi Seli was then installed as transitory CM to fool the Dayak further.
Stay relevant
Sadly so, some of these gullible and self centred Dayaks are still being actively used to execute these destructive role today! Can you recall how the same Sidi Munan colluded with Masing & Sng Chee Hua foolishly rivalled Tajem and Salang which led to eventual demise of PBDS? Ironically years later, Sidi was dumped like piece of garbage by both Masing & Sng as we see today, desperately trying to use SADIA to make himself feel relevant again! My humble message to Sidi Munan – the destruction you have done to the Dayak is beyond redemption! Historian & next generation Dayaks may not be too kind to you. Make amend whilst you can, lest you be remembered as good-ridden politician.
The destruction of SNAP also goes along the same traits – self centred, greed, short sightedness of Dayak leaders – failing to see the bigger master plan by ‘power that be’ to subdue the Dayaks political strength
Cultural Arrogance Vs Sheer arrogance
Knowing Dayak’s passion with NCR, Taib cunningly introduce the most venomous tool called Konsep Baru for NCL development on the pretext of uplifting Dayak from poverty. He diligently selected Masing as Minister in charge of LCDA (government proxy for land JV) whilst Jabu continue to oversee SALCRA (another land Development vehicle). When NCR issues was tabled for debate by a DAP ADUN in DUN sitting few years ago, it was Jemut Masing (PRS Half President) who rose to his feet to protest (Jabu also support Masing) and referred the DAP ADUN as “Cultural Arrogance”.
What Masing means was simply “Don’t tell the Dayak what land means to the Dayak & what Dayak need to do to develop such land! In other word, Masing was telling the world that the Dayak ADUN already knew all issues related to land development. What we see today is the product of ‘hard work’ that Masing (Minister of Land Development) and Jabu (SALCRA Minister) had done for NCR landowners – Kanowit JV scam, Pantu JV Scam, SALCRA million Ringgit ‘success stories’. Anyone knows how much Masing & Jabu pocketed from all these Konsep Baru JV Scheme? Can anybody fathom the heart breaking Dayaks who were victims of these JV scams? This is a modern day example of how bunch of greedy, self serving yet arrogant Dayak politician are being used as tool to exploit Dayak own people!
New Political Lizard
Yet a new political lizard (mengkarung) has just reappeared in the horizon. Adit the desperado YB, has been trying to auction his hollow status to highest bidder – yet seen by many as a sick old man desperately looking for his final resting place.
So my friends DB readers, my challenge to all of us – look around us, who among us are the opportunist & gullible ones? Who among us are waiting for pot of gold or high position to blind us from reality of Dayak struggle? Who among us are willing to move beyond our comfort zone and put our life and hard earned resources on the line toward this struggle? Who among us can put your hand on your heart and honestly say – I am different?
What now?
History has taught us that fellow Malaysian from Malaya couldn’t care less for Dayak. Can you imagine how Taib and his cronies have been laughing to their hearts – at how foolish Dayaks have been and will always be, as long as we allow these political chameleons overstays their welcome.
Conclusion
Has the Dayak lose their pride?
We need to agree to disagree, as time is against us. If we love this Sarawak, we need to get mobilized. Our rivers are polluted, our trees are chopped, and our land is being seized. If we don’t do anything, no one will and one day our children will curse upon us and pee on our tombstone!
Aram meh kitai berubah. Change We Must

PS.
Dear Dr John, this is another write-up which had appeared here in this blog. It has been saved by me because it is quite good in giving a brief description of how gullible we are, how other leaders would try to kill off our instinct for survival and how we try to withstand such attempts. An excellent insight!.

SHOULD YOU SEEK POWER AND CONTROL DUE TO YOUR OWN & YOUR FUTURE GENERATIONS INSECURITY?
Everyone experiences insecurity in some way, shape or form…..Everyone!
Our insecurity can surface at home, at work, at play and/or at any environment; business, politics, etc….
Where do our insecurities come from and what can we do about them?
All insecurities come from the pits of hell in my personal opinion. The reason I think that is because of the hell they put us through when we allow them influencing our mind….
There is usually a physical reason for our insecurities, but the way they keep control over us is in our mind.
Someone may have mistreated you, talked hateful to you, neglected you or something similar as a child, discriminate your and/or your family members, marginalized you and/or your community, treat you unjustly, bulldoze your property, and so on…’negative’, ‘anger’, ‘hatred’, ‘vengeance’, ‘horrible’, ‘trauma’, ‘helpless’, ‘hopeless’, ‘fear’, ‘miserable’ and ‘unfortunately’. That planted to seed of insecurity in your mind. Then that seed begins to take and grow; spreading those insecurities deeper and wider in our minds. It isn’t long before we look at everything in life through our insecurities.
We take them into relationships with us, into marriage and even pass them to our children and others. It is time that we face our insecurities and evict them from our lives. Pull those insecurities out by the root.
Don’t allow any part of it to remain. There is no truth to them. All insecurity will do is rob you of your life. Don’t allow that to happen. Fight back today!
It is time we all put a stop to these life stealer. They feed off of each other; so we must starve them out. Get them out today!
Just remember these words for a second:
• You are loved.
• You are appreciated.
• You are more than good enough.
• You are able to do it.
• You capable of achieving it.
• You can accomplish it.
• You can solve it.
• You can motivate yourself.
• You can empower yourself.
• You can lead others.
• You have a destiny to fulfill and insecurities are not part of that destiny.
The conquering them is part of your destiny though…..start now and do it persistently now and forever….
God has created you like none other. He didn’t create you with insecurities; so they are not supposed to be in our lives. Today is the day we begin to kick insecurity out of our life!!
Be Secured – Be Courage – Be Yourself – Be The Frontier!
Thank you.

Again, this is another article which I have saved. Its message always lingers in my mind Because Corruption is aprt and parcel of BN Culture every now and then. It will not come to a complete stop until there a change in government and its policies. Rampant corruption breeds unproductivity. Has CM Taib not practised corruption, there is NO way he and his family member could be able to accumulate so much wealth in Sarawak. Absolutely no way!
………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
CORRUPT POLITICAL CULTURE PRACTISED BY BN, Dr. John Brian Anthony 26th Apr 2011
We had seen BN in rural Sarawak did not do much campaign during the just concluded State Election on 16th April 2011. They depended on Federal Ministers to come and give talk and promised many projects. For the last election, PM Najib and DPM Muhyiddin promised nearly RM1 billion worth of development projects to Sarawak. Whether the BN keep to their promises is yet to be seen. Not to be left out, then the State Ministers would promise development grants while many BN YBs distributed cheques, of which many of them bounced for lack of funds.
Why did the BN candidate issue the cheques? They had been promised of certain amount of money credited into their accounts for campaigning purposes. Like anything else, the money was not banked in time by BN Secretariat. As a result, when the Tuai Rumahs encashed the cheques, they bounced. Many BN candidates depended on this money to buy votes in order to win the election.
If BN candidate is elected through “corrupt means”, then the voters should know that they will vote a corrupt government.
Many BN key workers declared that they strike 4D after every election. That was because they retained or kept the money which was initially intended for distribution to the voters. For the BN candidates why should they care? It was not their money in the first place.
What type of culture do you think the BN is practising? It is a culture of corruption. It makes a fool of the voters. It also means that how the BN gets it done not matter, as long as it obtains what it wants. Apparently, it is not a healthy culture but many people do not even think of principles and value system. Anything is accepted to justify the ends.
1.What type of culture is that of giving empty promises?
Will we witness the coming of Hospital General in Sri Aman, Song-Kapit road, etc so soon? The road to Kapit, according to YB Manyin, should already be implemented by beginning of this year. Look, where is that promise now? Will there be other similar promises when the MP election is coming? Will there be another earth breaking ceremony held later on? Will there be another BN-get-together session to confuse the people to forcefully persuade them to vote the BN candidates? If there is, then this will be nothing other than to perpetuate the ever popular policy to deceive the folks in the interior in voting the BN candidates? BN culture of lies continues and BN cleverly covers the lies with cash for votes.
Can anybody confirm that the promises totaling about RM80 millions in Batang Ai have been delivered? How about the promises made during the recent Sibu Parliamentary by-election?
There was no wonder BN lost handsomely in urban areas. The people were more educated and they understood political issues and what elements constituted a good government. The rural voters were still easily fooled.
Despite that, the votes for Opposition PR are on a drastic rise while BN is losing ground.
You can see the CHEAT in the Election Process that with only 90,000 vote differences, the BN can still hold two third majorities. The EC designed the constituencies to favor the BN parties.
2.BN institutionalizes vote buying in every election.
Teams of trusted workers from BN would be making their round mostly 72 hours before polling. During the last 10th state election, the money was even distributed before the Nomination day. A great deal of the money was used to buy votes. The payment was even made 4 days after the election result had been announced.
The practice of vote buying is down low mentality.
Therefore, it produces a government that is not much respected. We can see the Malay Senators and certain YBs standing up for CM Taib not to resign even after he has promised to resign. What is the main agenda of these few YBs and Senators? They are helpless mentality YBs who are scared of changes and challenges. These YBs and Senators are all for themselves and not for the interests of the people of Sarawak.
3.Conclusion
Reporting BN Government corruption to authorities is a journey of faith and not of the rule of laws. How many reports have been made against CM Taib? What action has the authorities, especially the MACC and the rest of the relevant Ministries taken to tackle the issue of corruption? If there is no corruption, then let MACC declare that CM Taib is not guilty of corruption. But MACC and the police should start the investigation before declaring that CM Taib is not corrupted.
Today, nothing seems to happen so far. This is not good as it gives an indication to the people of Sarawak that CM Taib and the BN government are not really corrupt.
Smooth talking; cheating and corrupt government is what the people of urban Sarawak do not want. Those in rural Sarawak are still too dependent on Government give outs. That being the case, after 48 years of Malaysia the BN keeps the rural people poor on purpose. They want to make the rural voters as their “fixed deposit” for every election. My question is but for how long?
DayakBaru will continue to do work to reveal the truths of BN government abuse of power and corruption. Mote so, the BN government has wasted Sarawak revenue to corruption in enriching the politicians.
Change WE Must

Dayak in history was great but dayak today is just like a kerebau kena tarik di hidung. Dayak is no longer a fighter like aki Rentap. All our leaders are like kerebau kena tarik di idung. What to do? The one who tarik is more powerful and dayaks will always be under his feet.
December 12th, 2012 at 11:18 pm
Ngal Empangngop, There is no black and white answer as what we should do. It is not going to nicely written on the wall for us to understand the WH-questions and How-question. We have to find out on our own. I am interested to know the reason for our current leaders to be likened as’ Kerebau dituchuk ba idung”? I guess you have your own answers too. I am sure you have seen something which could explain for their submission to their corrupt leaders. And I am also sure you have seen their inaction towards the Ibans when the BN government grabs what is belonged to the folks.
Cheers…

Politics of confrontation and egos still harbour inside the Dayak politicians and the community. I must put the blame solely on Dayak politicians for they have failed us. They were unable to come to a compromising terms and does not see the the bigger picture and sustainability of the Dayaks presence in Malay lands.
I’m wishful for a Messiah to be born as saviour for the Dayak, a man of of charisma, with the mission and vision to do extraordinary feats to restore our dignity. Borneo land is dayak land, let there be another ‘Rentap the warrior’ born.

The more Dr J B aired his finding through his blog with regards, I have no more tears to cry out but blood.

It is worth repeating Dayak politicians especially the Ibans in the party Sapa Pedis Dulu Pansut is heading us to the land of nowhere. Not much they could do as they are living on the borrowed time. Thanks must go to the voters of N.34 Krian for dumping the incumbent who only closed one eye to Tabung Haji the agent of UMNO in grabbing Dayak lands.
It is worth repeating Dayak politicians especially the Ibans in the Parti Rari Sebilik is also heading us to the land of no hope. Besides doing things ad hoc they have no agenda for us. All Dayaks who go to school know that they are living at the mercy of PBB the proxy of UMNO. Remember UMNO THINK TANK in the person of Inche Senu Abdul Rahman whose vision to Islamise the natives of Sarawak and Sabah within 20 years after Malaysia is formed.
It is worth repeating the 5 Ibans ADUN in PBB are also heading us to the land of complete failures. Besides playing the role of clowns just to entertain the Dayaks they have a lot of red marks in their report cards. However, to borrow Yusof Puteh analogy they are only table flowers. What can they do? PBB is the proxy of UMNO so talk according to UMNO written scripts. Perhaps, Awang Tanah is only waiting for the right time to ask them to wear “kain kebat” as he sees them fit to be clowns.
It is worth repeating the Dayak politicians in SUPP are also heading us to the land of complete destruction.Besides losing 1 p and enriching themselves like the other politicians they are the dead woods that should be thrown along the Batang Lupar river. The Chinese have dumped that party. So, what are their struggles ?
Kitai nadai pengari ti tau ngasuh ati temegah dalam BN. Nadai salah kitai ke rebak baru nguji Pakatan Rakyat.

errrr, good article but I am puzzled with one paragraph which goes as follows:
“What now?
History has taught us that fellow Malaysian from Malaya couldn’t care less for Dayak. Can you imagine how Taib and his cronies have been laughing to their hearts – at how foolish Dayaks have been and will always be, as long as we allow these political chameleons overstays their welcome.”
What caught me eye is the “fellow Malaysian from Malaya……….” can’t help but to relate DAP of whihc Dr John Brian has just been appointed into DAP CEC…congratulations to you…but how would we look at DAP, isn’t it also Malaysian from Malaya? Ohh well I would expect you to argue that it is different case altogether, and true enough gullible will believe you too…

WE WABT A DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER FOR SABAH ANG SARAWAK, Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony,29th October 2011
1.Are MPs from Sarawak dumb?
Tan Sri Bernard Dompok should be supported for calling for a Deputy Prime Minister position for Sabah and Sarawak. In the first place this idea was mooted by Pakatan Rakyat but Tan Sri Bernard saw the logic and made the suggestion to Federal Government. Which BN MP or Minister from Sarawak dares to speak out on such matter? In most instances as much as we disagree with Federal budget or policies our MP seldom speak for us. Is their elected position supposed to be their secured job and income stream or were these MPs elected to represent our views. The latter happen to be the case most of the time – shame on the MPs.
2.Why do we need to ask for a special Deputy Prime Minister post for Sabah and Sarawak?
In the good old days we have a Federal Minister for Sarawak in the person of Tan Sri Temenggong Jugah ak Barieng. He was appointed to that position to oversee and solve problem of Sarawak as an important part of Malaysia. Have the problems of Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia being solved? The answer is NO. Actually, what we do not to see happen is happening.
Sabah and Sarawak are now faced with a bigger problem whereby the Federal Government would like to convert the Sabah Sarawak natives to become Muslim. In Sarawak for example, Muslim is a minority. In Sabah the Federal Government take in Muslim Filipinos and Indonesian and give them MYKAD so that the Muslim will be the majority in Sabah.
In West Malaysia, when the Muslim feel threatened that some Muslim do convert to other religion they stage demonstration. It shows how narrow minded and ego-centric some Muslim are in Malaysia. The Federal Constitution declares that Malaysia is a secular country but Islam is the official religion. The Agong and Sultans are the guardian of Islam. And YET, BN Government accuses the Christian of wanting to take over Malaysia. BN religious politics is so sickening.
Tun Mahathir and UMNO opposed Sabah and Sarawak suggestion for DPM
Contrary to Tun Mahathir cynical remarks on the suggestion of the Deputy Prime Ministership from Sabah and Sarawak for Sabah and Sarawak – Tun said – then Kedah will also ask for a DPM post and so will Pahang. Well Tun Mahathir is from Kedah and PM Najib is from Pahang. In Sarawak we do not have UMNO and the President of UMNO is the Prime Minister of Malaysia and that mean Sarawakians will never become a Prime Minister. Unless of course those in BN components in Sarawak would like to bring in UMNO into Sarawak so that CM Taib can become the next Prime Minister of Malaysia.
3.Taib as the next Prime Minister of Malaysia
Actually CM Taib is well qualified to be the next Prime Minister of Malaysia. He has the experience and money to lead Malaysia. Actually, CM Taib could become the richest man in the world as he would surely know how to manage Petronas money well and all the country’s assets. CM Taib even does not have to worry about the Parliament as his “bomoh” and “black magic’ would keep the MPs from creating trouble as he has done to DUN members in Sarawak.
4.Sabah and Sarawak rights is better to be dismiss and forgotten.
Sabah and Sarawak are an equal partner in Malaysia and yet we do not have a chance to be the Prime Minister. Now we suggest a post of DPM to focus on Sabah and Sarawak development and even this is dismissed outright by UMNO. Does that not speak of the colonization of Sabah and Sarawak? Tun Mahathir initiated the marginalization of Sabah and Sarawak and the BN politician in Sarawak sold their soul to UMNO and all they seek is personal wealth while their people suffer. Those key supporters of BN also sold their soul because they want to be rich by participating in the abuse of power process. At the end of the day, the rights of Sabah and Sarawak are sold out to UMNO while the people suffer. That is our Sabah and Sarawak situation today.
5.Rotation of Chief Minister Position
Look at Sabah when Tun Mahathir played them out by promising rotational Chief Minister among the main races and NOW the Sabahan only have Muslim as Chief Minister. The rotation stop and the mechanism Tun Mahathir used was UMNO. Sarawak one day will do the same by inviting UMNO into Sarawak as the Pakatan Rakyat support gather strength. The State BN politician is capable of selling Sarawak off.
Conclusion
Political trend has changed and so is our political thinking. I cannot think of BN doing well for Sabah and Sarawak because corruption within BN leadership is massive. The Auditor–General has pointed out the rampant abuses but nothing will change. These abuses almost have no bearing on those who do wrong. Fish rot from the head – and in Malaysia today that is very obvious.
We are seeing Ministers distributing MRP in Sarawak now as election is coming and Dayak would think that is their ultimate reward for supporting BN. They do not see how their RIGHTS and ASSETS taken away from them. Are we silly? In a way, yes we are! Our thinking is a century behind other races.

SSKM CAUSES JITTERS IN SARAWAK http://sabahsarawakmerdeka.blogspot.com.au/
Those connected to the UMNO colonisation machine are raising alarm over Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM) activities. Of course on the outside many do not feel SSKM or any similar group can bring about separation from Malaya.
This article written by a Malay is interesting as it does not have an English version in the Borneo Post mouth piece of the PBB BN Sarawak regime.
Many local Malays and other natives are totally dischanted with the 50 years of colonisation in Malaysia which brought no real benefits to most native people and they want out.
Many are young people who were born after 1963 and do not have the anti-colonial background. So it is interesting that they are questioning why Sabah and Sarawak are in Malaysia as poor “states” when their respective countries as so rich in natural resources.
The pro-Malaysia UMNO BN writer of the article narturally opposes SSKM’s vision and mission for independence. But those who have read their history will understand that while it takes time… one day the break will come.
Are not Brunei and Singapore outside Malaysia?
Sabah and Sarawak are already physically apart from Malaysia… it just take that a bit more time and effort to get people to snap out of their illusion of “independence within Malaysia”.

Jangan terpengaruh seruan keluar Malaysia
by Mohd Norhadie Sahari. Posted on November 1, 2012, Thursday
MIRI: Sarawak People are urged not to be influenced by the ideological separatist movement Exit Sabah Sarawak Malaysia (SSKM) are being contemplated in the social networking site at the moment.
Social activist Wan Zain Syed said SSKM Mohdzar deliberately create a new account in a social networking site intended to incite and mislead the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
“SSKM deliberately distort and undermine some of the facts related to the agreement in the formation of Malaysia, but also described the federal government does not respect Article 18/20 1963 Merger Agreement,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.
He tells, SSKM separatist movement was likely perpetrated by politicians who are not happy with the government administration to try to raise sensitive issues.
“SSKM is not registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) and it moved illegally through social sites to provoke, confuse and deceive the people of Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
He added that if the SSKM continues unchecked poison people’s minds Sabah and Sarawak in social sites, then it could interfere with the majority of Borneo order.
“We urge the relevant government agencies to take stern action against the social networking site owners SSKM or close the account involved because it could threaten public order,” he said.
Wan Zain told, various issues or inaccurate facts discussed in SSKM social sites simply to incite the people of Sabah and Sarawak hate the federal government.
“I urge the relevant parties to investigate behind the separatist movement SSKM and practice related acts that those found guilty be penalized,” he said.
Meanwhile, he sees this agreement unbiased even good relations between Sarawak and the federal government will be protected and cared for.
“The allegation that the federal government took the land, Sarawak has occurred as alleged SSKM otherwise deliberately raised the issue to create tension between the people of both sides,” he said.
Sarawak, he still received a tremendous boost sustainable development of the central government and it proves the federal government not their State.

My input on Dr Rundi’s camouflage statement.
“Camouflage” is related to “deception.” Who has been deceiving the people all the past 49 years? I am curious to know what function is Dayaks within Barisan Nasional?
The only people who have been deceived so far are the Dayaks; through the Dayak leaders. The Dayaks form the backbone of Sarawak BN. Dayaks cover the most constituencies, providing the most representatives within Sarawak ADUN. Dayaks provide significant MPs within the national BN. This deception however can be seen in:
1. Dayaks are not represented in PNB management. PNB was enacted to increase economic equity of Bumiputeras, of which Dayaks are supposedly grouped into. PNB was set up under government funding. Yet until today, there is no Dayak director, manager, dealer within PNB. (Dayak is a term that includes all natives of Sarawak and Sabah).
2. Dayaks are not included into senior post within the government Ministries, quasi-government bodies and government-linked companies. These quasi bodies includes: Bank Negara, Securities Commission, Intan, EPF, Mindef, various Ministries etc. Joseph Entulu Belaun is a prime example: as a Deputy Rural Development Minister, yet all his Pengarah and Heads of Departments are non-Dayak.
3. Non-allocation of development fund for Dayaks. Felda was set with funding of World Bank, and Japanese Government. Felda has created RM billions. Offspring of Felda are today ministers, professors, accountants, lawyers etc. No such development funding was (and is) made available to Dayaks.
4. Dayaks’ only source of wealth is not recognised. Land-rich Dayaks cannot realised their wealth through fair and transparent land development JVs. After 15 years, plantation conglomerates that JV with Dayaks fail to give dividends. Dayak lands within their longhouses are still not provided with individual titles.
5. Rural schools where Dayak children study are poorly equipped and the buildings in derelicts. Dayak children continue to be sidelined in entrance to premium schools and universities. Dubious interpretation of archaic laws denied Dayak children into institutions like UiTM.
6. The Civil Service has clearly discriminated against Dayak youths. Recent ratifications clearly prove this point.
We can have another 10 or 20 points. But these can adequately show us what Dayaks are within BN. I respect all our MPs, but please examine yourself first before bowing down to the DECEPTIVE agenda of BN. You are just a TOOL for BN to rule, yet the Dayaks were/are not recipients of any benefit whatsoever. If you love your Dayak people, you should see that 49 years within BN has brought little change for the Dayaks. YOU HAVE BEEN DECEIVED.
December 19th, 2012 at 6:27 am
Perhaps Dr. Rundi is an expert on “camouflage”. He and the rest of his Dayak colleagues in the state cabinet has been a “camouflage” for a very long time. Therefore he assumes that DAP is also playing the same dirty game as BN. Dirty minded!
December 19th, 2012 at 1:23 pm
Dr. Rundi adalah orang yg jatuh Dan kecewa semasa awal karier. Beliau Sangat terhutang bud I kpd BN. Oleh sebab itu dia terpaksa mempertahankan Tuan walaupun terpaksa mengenepikan kaum sendiri. Menegak benang yg basah Dan sanggup mengadai maruah untuk kelangsungan karier politiknya. Itulah keadaan yg menimpa kebanyakan ahli politik Dayak.
December 19th, 2012 at 11:39 pm
With due respect, Dr Rundi is a Confused man in politics. I am one of those who do not what he can do for the Iban as an ADUN from PBB pesaka wing. His presence in PBB is indeed a kind of “table flower” to deceive the Ibans. His presence inthe party is merely to outwit the simple mind of the majority of Iban. And above all, he is an opportunistic soul. He works for himself! He hardly works for the Ibans as the Iban from Sepadok area have found out.
December 20th, 2012 at 3:15 am
“………to outwit the simple mind of the majority of the Iban.”
Cikgu,
That’s exactly the phrase I was looking for. I feel very sad to see that some very qualified Ibans are using their knowledge to exploit the less fortunate. Not an iota of social responsibility.

This article is “Dayak vs Dayaks” and Dr Rundi represents the “well-connected.” He is privileged in every sense. Unfortunately, he does not use his well-connected position to help the less-connected and less-fortunate Dayaks.
In fact, he “camouflage” or more appropriately “masquerade” as a Dayak Representative yet never speak on a single issue against discrimination faced by Dayaks.
I am not that old, yet I am not that young. Sometimes I rub shoulders with Dayak YBs. Some are genuinely good, but many care more about the “scratches on their new cars” than the Dayaks who does not have food to eat.
I am passionate about education, remembering how I struggled to educate myself. But our Dayak YBs children do not face the same “school problems,” “intake problem,” “scholarship problem” as me. I know one Iban YB daughter whose school results bordering on “fail” yet she has a scholarship to study in Melbourne. But for most of our ordinary Dayak children with 6,7,8,9,10 A (s) in Form 5, they can’t even enter a “choice course” in University.
What is the outcome of our Dayak youth Marina Undau and Esther Aji? Patinggi Tan Sri Datuk Jabu promised to bring these cases to parliament – when? Until now there is no news and does it bother him that there has not been any settlement to the case? Personally, I don’t think so. Maybe Dr Rundi can answer this too.
I can’t forget the answer when I applied for a government scholarship before. The answer I received was: “We have given all scholarships to other deserving students.” If I sound a little combative and militant it’s because I still see this very same treatment accorded to Dayaks students until this very day. Do our Dayak YBs (ADUN and MP) care? Dr Rundi, care to answer that?
I am sad about our Dayak youths when it comes to education. Schools roofs leaking, buildings provided substandard, facilities not available – and even the teachers are majority Malayan people. Do our Dayak YBs care?
To me, our Dayak YBs only masquerade as “Pengari” when it fact they are there as “table flower” to fool and cheat the rural Dayaks.

Dr Rundi is second to linggi Jugah, once appointed as PBB secretary general, he devoted all his times & energies looking after the party; polishing his master’ balls but turn blind to dayaks’ issues. Automatically lost his fangs to fight for dayaks’ rights. He is ‘ lembek’ by design only strong courting indai blues.
Don’t put any hope on this type of YB of Bago & Ago mentality.

Right to secede
http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2011/09/sskm-news-sept-26.html
(In the news)
A free and independent Sarawak
Maclean Patrick
| March 21, 2011
Sarawak cannot secede from the federation but one can surmise that the state can act independently of the federal government.
In the 18-Point Agreement with the Federation of Malaya, Sarawak has been given self-governing authority.
This document forms the cornerstone of Sarawak’s entry into the Federation of Malaysia and should be the measure by which the state evaluates any new policy formulated by the federal government.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has all along stated that Sarawak could not survive without a BN government. This is the slogan being chanted by BN representatives with the state election around the corner.
This idea is erroneous since Sarawak existed as a self-governing mini-nation long before the idea of the Federation of Malaysia was mooted.
It was not until June 21, 1962 – the day the Cobbold Report was completed and submitted to the prime ministers of Britain and Malaya – that a recommendation was was made and approved to form a federated Malaysia.
The reason why this recommendation was accepted is a mystery since the Cobbold Commission found that only 33% were in full support of a merger with Malaya. The other two-thirds were divided among themselves: some wanted full independence first before any merger, some wanted safeguards put in place first while others were totally against the whole notion of a merger.
Needless to say, on Sept 26, 1962, Sarawak did agree to be part of the federation but only if the 18-point agreement was in place to safeguard its interest.
The rest is history and Sarawak became part of Malaysia.
Mind-boggling ignorance
Yet, it boggles the mind to see the ignorance of the BN government towards this agreement. Suffice to say, the agreement was broken not by Sarawak but by the federation on many fronts.
The impounding of the bibles (which were eventually released) at Klang Port and Kuching Port, goes against Point One of the agreement: “While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia, there should be no state religion in Borneo (Sarawak and Sabah), and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to Borneo.”
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Aziz used the pending court case against the use of the term “Allah” by The Herald as the reason for impounding the bibles. But he made a mistake.
The Federal Court case should have no bearing on the importing of the bibles by Sarawak since it is practising its right to freedom of religion. Moreover, the holy books are meant for distribution in the state.
How Nazri can link a court case to the issue of impounded bibles is incredible. But it begs the main question: why impound the holy books in the first place?
Can Sarawak secede from the federation to form an independent nation? Unfortunately not, if you read Point Seven of the agreement: “There should be no right to secede from the federation.”
Yet in looking at the heart of the whole agreement, one can surmise that Sarawak can act independently of the federal government.
On the issue of the federal government’s allocation for the state, one wonders why Point 11 of the agreement is not followed: “Borneo (Sarawak and Sabah) should retain control of its own finance, development and tariff, and should have the right to work up its own taxation and to raise loans on its own credit.”
Fundamental right
Instead of the federation allocating money to Sarawak, the state should be the one giving pocket money to the federation. Thus, the BN government should not use the development-funding-blackmail route to woo voters every time a general election comes around. Sarawak can claim the right to be financially independent and it is provided for in the 18-Point Agreement.
This fundamental right to self-govern and to act independently of the federation has been diluted or ignored by the BN government and kept hidden from the public eye.
BN in effect has stripped Sarawakians of their dignity to stand on their own accord, while masking a rebranding exercise that seeks to mould the Sarawak government in the image of the federal government, which in fact goes against Point Eight of the agreement: “Borneanisation of the public service should proceed as quickly as possible.”
The BN government has blatantly ignored the 18-Point Agreement in formulating national policies. It is even sickening that the subjugation of Sarawak is assisted by the local BN state representatives who are ignorant altogether of the agreement.
The dream is not far-fetched to install a Pakatan Rakyat government. All it takes is to say “No” to BN and a strong “Yes” to Pakatan.
Yet, this should only happen if a Pakatan government can assure Sarawak that the spirit of the 18-Point Agreement would be safeguarded for future generations to come.

DAYAK SOCIAL FABRIC HAS BEEN WEAKENED UNDER BN,Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony 24th Feb 2012
The BN State Government nowadays looks more focused on weakening the social fabric of Dayak community more than ever before. The BN leaders who lead this attack are none other than the Dayak leaders themselves led by Tan Sri Jabu, the self-proclaimed Iban Paramount Chief. One of the most effective strategies is to corner and suppress the Dayak community leaders: Tuai Rumah, Penghulu, Pemanca and Temenggong. Certain Government Departments also seem focused on carrying out the same task. The so called process of giving confirmation certificate for Tuai Rumah and the 2 year contract service etc for Penghulu, are some of the mechanisms employed the BN to control this group of leaders.
1.Re-engineering of Tuai Rumah (Community leaders).
The appointment by Government of TR is a new BN strategy to win the heart and mind of Dayak community leaders. Traditionally, it has been the culture of the Iban to appoint a Tuai Rumah who is well versed in the Adat. Until recently, however, the Bn government has introduced various measures in order to ensure control over the Iban leaders so that they remain supportive of the current BN government. The giving away of State award eg BBS, ABS etc is another way of keeping the community leaders in line. In fact, in the 2006 and 2011 election, the Dayak leadership structure was extensively exploited and abused by BN to undermine the long house voters
The re-engineering of the role of TR was good initially and the financial allowance that they got was helpful. But when political party started to use the institution of Dayak Community Leadership position as reward for those people who supported them to win their election, this had started the destruction of the Dayak social fabric. Dayak Community leaders should focus on upholding the “DAYAK ADAT”. But regretfully, it is the BN Government that starts to pull them into politics. When this happens the role of keeping the DAYAK ADAT has become secondary. Instead, the role in ensuring that the BN win the election has become primary. When a Community leader is a member of any political party, it will create a disunity factor. It can only make things worse.
Weakened Iban community leadership has opened a window of opportunities for the YBs. Some YBs will have no qualms to use the Dayak Community leader’s institution to grab Dayak precious wealth, the NCR land. Some TRs even sign out their long house “pulau galau” to timber companies and “pemakai menoa” to palm oil plantation companies. In our Iban culture, a TR is only responsible to administer the adat in the long house while the respective “tuai bilik” is responsible for their own parcels of land. The influence of corrupted BN Dayak Iban leaders has changed the whole thing completely. They have inspired and encouraged the Dayak Community leaders to “compromise” their NCR land and even negotiate such land with JV in Oil Palm Plantation oil for small sum of money, which has been an essential manouvre to bring development.
“The effect is, the Dayak NCR land ownership is weakened and which, if not arrested, will eventually disappear into the hand of others at a very minimal cost”.
Thus BN Government always dismisses problems of NCR issues by even saying that “kapa ngasuh madang babas tumbuh di tanah NCR manah agi beri ngagai company alai nanam sawit”. BN leaders want to get cheap land and many BN supporters also want to make easy money “kantau” with the investors by taking commission from the surrendering of such lands to plantation companies. By so doing, the most important factor to economic success, that is land, would be taken away from the Dayak. In future, the landless Dayak would be “dirt” poor and would become “labourers” for others who have got the land cheaply from them.
Most feel that such TR or BN supporters, who act as brokers to the land deal, are actually selling away the future of Dayak. The land is “tumbuh rumput. tumbuh babas” because the Government is not doing her work properly to help the Dayak in creating small holding for planting cash crops. The objective of BN politicians is always to make money for themselves and this is also true to those BN grass root leaders. There have very little conscience about the loss of Dayak land to others which will make Dayak poorer in future.
2.political suppression of Dayak by their own community leaders
The BN Government uses MRP and promises of Community leadership of position to suppress the Dayak. The MRP looks so great for the poor Dayak. And those who want to be seen in public badly always want to become Penghulu and even Councillors. These are the very leaders who threaten the people to support the Government, if not “we will not share with you the MRP allocation given by the Government”.
Dayak communities place great importance on communal rights and peer pressure within the community. The Government has taken advantage of their position and reinforces this “fear factor” in the rural Dayak community. Young and educated Dayak should rise up and speak out against this threat. It is destroying the spirit and community strength of Dayak. We must not allow the Dayak to become victim of their own community leaders under the direction of BN Government.
Conclusion
Many bad things are done unto our Dayak social fabric arrangement by the present BN Government. Such effort has now not only weakened us but the Government has also managed to split the Dayak further until they are almost helpless. Who is going to help us solve this problem? The answer relies on all of us who have the understanding of the issues which could bring about the downfall of Dayak in Sarawak in spite of being the majority. You do not need to be official member of any political party in order to do the correction. You need just to tell them that we must fight for change: And most important of all, you must NOT vote any BN Candidates. Please UBAH the BN government which, after being 49 years in the office, still could not give us a correct race category in our own country. We do not want to be called “lain-lain”. We are Dayak!
Change WE Must. UBAH meh diatu.

Since nobody would to chip in some items, please let me re-submit another article which had appeared in the previous blog of Dayakbaru. In my mind, the weakening process of our people will go on emdlessly so long as BN is still in control of the country of Sarawak. This article is interesting as its truth will not be easily resable in time to come. It’s worth our re-reading in to remind us of what has been in the mind of some of us but it requires all of us to stop the rot. Happy reading.

Another Dayak vs Dayak joke case surely this Masing-Jabu spat on Jatropha crop
Ini hari suruh tanam, Esok hari bilang cabut balik. Mana tidak Dayak pening kepala hidup miskin???

Masing: We can strike gold!
Ministry confident new commercial crops, Jatropha and bamboo can bring great economic returns to State
The Borneo Post, 28th September 2007
KUCHING: The Land Development Ministry is optimistic that it can strike gold in making Jatropha and bamboo the new commercial crops for the State.
Its minister Dato Sri Dr James Masing said research and development (R&D) were now being carried out to study the feasibility of planting the two crops on a large-scale.
He pointed out that Sarawak could emulate the success of China, which had reaped the benefits of R&D of the two crops.
“We can strike gold here,” he said at a Thank You dinner for the local media at a restaurant here Wednesday.
Masing recently led a 11-member delegation from Sarawak to China for a five-day working visit to study Jatropha bio-fuel plantation, bio-fuel diesel processing and potentials of bamboo cultivation.
While in China, they visited the Jatropha Research Institute and bamboo plantations and processing factories, among other places.
They also attended meetings and discussions with key players in the biofuel industry including China government officials, biofuel researchers and implementers.
On Jatropha, Masing said R&D was needed to find out which of its species could adapt better to the local conditions in Sarawak and with a sizeable oil content similar or close to the 30 per cent oil content in Jatropha of China.
He added that in China, Jatropha seeds from one hectare of plantation could produce up to nine tonnes of oil per year.
“The question is can we grow it here? My answer is yes, we can,” he said.
He pointed out that there was a growing global demand for biofuel due to the rising concern over global warming, since biofuel especially the ones produced by Jatropha did not contribute to carbon monoxide pollution unlike conventional fossil fuel.
Masing added that since the Malaysian government was committed to producing and using biofuel, thus this gives more reasons to try mass planting of Jatropha to supplement oil palm.
“Since the oil from Jatropha is used solely for biofuel, this makes it the best substitute for crude palm oil,” he added.
Jatropha plant also had medical potential for skin related diseases and constipation besides other cosmetic and pharmaceutical potentials,” he said.
Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (Mardi) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) are currently carrying out the R&D on Jatropha at a site in Lundu near here.
On bamboo, Masing said the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) has been asked to look into the possibility of cultivating bamboo given the State’s vast tracks of idle land.
Noting that commercial bamboo in China were bigger and individually grown unlike the bamboo in Sarawak which were in brunches, he said the potential of commercial bamboo growing was huge in Sarawak’s land development efforts.
“We try to see if we can grow this particular species of bamboo on a large-scale basis here,” he added.
He added that China was now among the world’s leaders in bamboo land use and product development as well as in research, and this was proven by the US$400 million that country earned yearly from the plant.
The bamboo produced by China are used in building materials including flooring and panels, scaffolding, furniture, fabrics, food products, as well as in pharmaceutical products.
Masing, who is also Sarawak Land Development Board chairman and president of a faction in Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), thanked the local media for publishing stories on the delegation’s visit to China.
“We look forward to introducing more new commercial crops to Sarawak, and the cooperation from the media is very much needed,” he added.
Among those present at the gathering were Land Development Assistant Minister Mohd Naroden Majais, the ministry’s permanent secretary Chaiti Bolhassan, Salcra general manager Datuk Vasco Sabat Singkang and Australian Business Centre director Rodger Chan.

Jabu: Jatropha cultivation promotion to be halted
New Sarawak Tribune, Wednesday, 29 September 2010
BETONG: Promotions on ‘Jarak’ or Jatropha cultivation in the state will be halted revealed, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang.
According to Jabu, the cultivation of Jatropha had not brought satisfactory benefits compared to the cultivation of rubber trees and oil palm.
“Rubber and oil palm are the best commercial crops for cultivation by the rural community in terms of world market compared to jatropha.
“Furthermore, there is no processing centre for jatropha in Sarawak.
Therefore, I urge all those involved to stop selling jatropha seedlings to the rural community, he said.
Jabu, who is also Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, made the call when officiating at the presentation of Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants for Layar state constituency at Dewan Panglima Rentap here yesterday.
He also wanted the rural community to reject the presence of opposition groups during the coming state election.
He said the opposition could not prove their capabilities to improve the living standard of the people and this was proven when DAP tried to stop the oil palm scheme in Machan, Kanowit in 1995.
“Furthermore, the opposition parties were often squabbling among themselves compared to Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties. Therefore, the BN government is the best for the people,” said Jabu.
Seventy Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) from Layar constituency received MRP grants totalling over RM440,000 at the function.
Also present were Betong Division Resident, Datu Romie Sigan Daniel, Betong District Officer, Friday Belik and Polititcal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Isik Utau.

My boss Taib is innocent, says PBB sec-gen
Malaysia Kini, Friday, June 10, 2011
The charges made against him are mere allegations, unless there is proof to show otherwise, says Dr Stephen Rundi.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) secretary-general Dr Stephen Rundi has declared that his party boss and Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud is innocent of a series of corruption allegations hurled at him.
“Yes, I believe he is innocent. The charges made against him are mere allegations, unless there is proof to show otherwise,” Rundi (right) told persistent reporters after opening the Sarawak Health, Wellness, Beauty and Halal Expo in Kuching today.
“We should just let the authority concerned (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) conduct the investigations against him,” he said, referring to the MACC’s confirmation that it was currently investigating the billionaire chief minister over the series of allegations.
Among the citizens’ groups that have lodged reports with the MACC are Movement for Change, Sarawak (MoCS) and Sarawak PKR, besides a number of individuals.
A series of police reports have also been lodged against Taib.
MACC commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed has confirmed that the commission was gathering information on the allegations.
The Swiss Anti-Corruption Agency recently froze Taib’s assets in Switzerland, country over the allegations of corruption against Taib linked to Sarawak multi-billion ringgit timber industry.
According to a foreign news report, Switzerland’s President Micheline Calmy-Rey is said to be aware of the allegations and had forwarded the information about Taib’s assets in Switzerland to its regulatory body, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, for action.
Rundi said the corruption allegations and the on-going MACC investigation would not affect the state’s image in the eyes of the international community.
‘We don’t prejudge (guilt)’
“We don’t prejudge (that Taib is guilty), but we should leave the matter to the authorities to probe,” said Rundi, who is also the state Barisan Nasional secretary-general and assistant minister of environment and public health.
“As of now, we don’t have many comments to make on the allegations,” he said.
He said he had read the allegations against Taib on the whistleblower website Sarawak Report, and other websites.
“Well, any such information or allegations are mere allegations until they are proven,” he insisted.
Asked whether the state government was aware of the on-going investigation by the MACC, he said: “It is not a matter of being aware or not. It is the right of the authorities to conduct the investigations.
“Let them investigate… they have the right to investigate if they want to investigate. They have to prove that the allegations are true,” he said.
Rundi was little upset with a reporter who asked whether he or the other state ministers and assistant ministers would cooperate with MACC if asked for their statements to be recorded.
“Are you questioning me now… ? “But of course, we will (cooperate with the MACC),” he said.

js@kbn,
One has to start somewhere. No harm to be CEC DAP or any Party.
Just like u go to school – no harm to go to any school provided u can learn from it.
The important thing is what do u get out of it? What can u do after you’d been to the school or become CEC!
If Dr. Brian could be Deng Xiaoping after going through education in France and slotting through life in Communist party and then come out and led China to what it is today, I would highly recommend it, won’t you?
Go for it Dr. Brian.

DB and all,
Chinese way of thinking was reflected by Wong Soon Koh’s statement which pointed that it was a WASTE that a SUPP Senator had not been appointed for the last 2 years. On the other hand from a Dayak point of view it was cost saving. You see since the creation of Betong as a division a WALIKOTA had never been appointed. All the Dayak YBs in PBB are answerable. WHY ??????
Is it really cost saving ??? Cost saving for who ???

Swakian, I mean well for him.
Now as you said, what can a Dayak in CEC do for fellow Dayaks, Swakians and Msians as a whole?

U still don’t get it don’t u?
A man of Dr John calibre and fevent, u think he could sit still if he could not derive anything for the Dayak or Sarawak as a whole?
I have been reading his post for quite a few years and I think he has the vigor and drive to get what he believes in.

Sarawakian,
Agree with you.A political struggle may have different paths and JBA is exploiting all the possible means to pursue his Dayak Agenda. Our comments may guide him in his mission some how.
For as long as the GOAL has not been reached I for one will always give my moral support to him.I also believe that he has more positive qualities than the camouflaged BN YB from Kemena.

Why so many Islamic centers in Kuching? We have one at OT Swee road, 3 in close proximity in Museum area (including Syriah court, One across river and now the recently closed Satok Sunday Market will turn into another Islamic centers again!!!!
Dayak must fight for the piece of land.
How many Muslim in Kuching?
Why should the land be given to Muslim? After all those completed centers are hardly used!!!
January 3rd, 2013 at 9:52 pm
JB struggle for Dayak cause is indeed noble, but his entry through DAP struggle makes me perplexed. Its not wrong because he has the rights and freedom to do so. I keep asking whether he can make an impact or be given the chance if PR wins the PRU13. I’m questioning his stand in DAP and few other Dayaks patriots. But for me, in meantime keep struggling for the truth you believe in and stay relevant. Though its difficult but I must say our struggle in politics is fragile and inconsistant.
Anyway I wish to convey my condolences to our Raja Berani, Datuk Temenggung Kanang Langkau, passed away yesterday. May there be more Raja Berani among the new generation of Dayaks.
Happy New Year 2013 to all PDB patriots and be sure of your support for the GE13.

According to BP issue 23rd Dec 2012, in Bintulu, “some 930 NCR landowners who participated in an oil palm joint-venture project with DD Pelita Sebungan Plantation Sdn Bhd in Sebauh sub-district are elated after receiving a total of RM1.5 million in dividends recently.”
This means each participant will get about RM1,600….Not sure if this is a yearly dividend. I guess if each participant has 500 trees, he could earn about RM600/mth and in a year he may earn about Rm7,200. Therefore, which one is better?
