Change We Must!

Jam the frequency of Radio Free Sarawak

January 21st, 2013

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony

It is so funny that an example was given by BN leaders that during the war with Communist and during Confrontation the army interfere with the radio broadcast of the enemy. Now, the BN leaders see Radio Free Sarawak as the radio that belong to the enemy. Who are these people that we have elected? Are the elected leaders becoming the enemy of the people or are the leaders making enemy of the people.

What is truth?

Truth is something that is factual and can be proven. Can I prove to you that BN did not deliver on many of their promises of development to the people of Sarawak? Of course I could. Could I prove that the money allocated under Sarawak development plan has been misdirected from the original intention? Yes i could. Could I prove that the Ministers in Sarawak are involved in corruption? Yes I could and that is fact. Read the rest of this entry »

BN politics is all about RACE, RELIGION and ROYALTY

January 21st, 2013

Written by: Dr John Brian Anthony

I received a few calls from my friends pertaining to PERKASA seditious out burst to burn the Bible. My friends even asked me to lodge a police report or if Christian NGO should make the police report. I replied in the negative because it is entirely “political” in nature. Due to the coming election, UMNO agent, PERKASA under directive by UMNO strongman uttered this holier then thou words “burn the Bible with the word Allah”.

The subject is a trap

The reason is quite simple that UMNO who dominate BN  enforce their will on BN  becuase BN has no more issue in which they can win an argument with PR. UMNO / BN politics is all about RACE, RELIGION and ROYALTY. If you enter into an argument over the above topic you will not win. If  UMNO / PERKASA say anything seditious on the subject of RACE, RELIGION or ROYALTY  it is alright. But if we non UMNO  / BN said it, that will be seditious. They will use their special power to lock you up.

These subjects are UMNO / BN specialty. It is not quantifiable and therefor is not measurable.  But if you talk about BN poor management of tax payer money, corruption, cronyism business, crime, education etc BN will shut up because many of BN policies represent self interest and is therefor rotten for the rest of the Malaysian. Their results in such areas are bad and insulting to the intelligence of average Malaysian.

PERKASA leader is our strategic tool

When PERKASA leader open his big mouth and with an idiot logic he turn off many fence sitters who in turn will support PR. So why bother about him?. He should be encourage to say anything and everything he wants. The more he talks the worst it is for BN. My Malay friends told me that the PERKASA leader intention is to divide and rule the Malay. In that respect he is not only failing but he is seen as a person with an IQ of certain animal but definitely not a dog because dogs are a lot smarter.

Conclusion

Your vote is for the future of Malaysia. Do you think we have any future with such person the like of PERKASA leader to run this country? It is time for UBAH and Change WE Must.

Demi -God of Sarawak

Come election, the Government would be busy resurfacing road, laying water pipes, erecting power lines, clearing new roads, doling out minor rural projects, giving little chicks as in Sri Aman and promising the sky to the people etc and then proudly declare to the people of Sarawak that only a BN Government could help and bring development to Sarawak. Many are still convince that only BN can bring progress to Sarawak. Why?

BN is equated with Government

The daily pounding of propaganda by BN make people think that BN is one and the same with Government. This “truth” is just as good as any that all instant noodle is called Maggi and every tooth paste is called “Colgate”. At one time all powder detergent is called “Omo” but now that has changed but gradually. BN has managed to convince people that BN or the Government is one and the same thing and that all other political is opposition. Without BN, some BN supporters dare say that they will be no more government. They say, if you do not vote BN, there will be no more schools, clinics, government offices etc as there is no more government. Due to their lack of education many Sarawakian believed in those statement.

So you see, what has the Opposition given you? The Opposition has no money and talk only. For us, armed with knowledge, we know that the state and country money is only held by the government and should be spent according to the approved budget. Who ever win the election will have the power to use the money to run the government  and  provide development for the country. It means, the communication of this basic information to make the people understand the different roles of a governing party and the opposing party lies in the hand of those who knows. For now, the Opposition is using Radio Free Sarawak to open up the issues and accelerate the political education of the ignorant voters.

Interesting enough, components of the Government instruct this ignorant people not to listen to RFS and even reinforced the lies that the Opposition is only out to cause trouble. There lies the root cause of “ignorance” among the rural community and for the BN leaders to take advantage of them. It is done deliberately by BN.

To me, it is an unfortunate practice by BN by keeping the people ignorant and knowingly make them poor for ease of manipulation during election. Read the rest of this entry »

Where will the Dayak be after PRU 13

January 4th, 2013

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony

This would be my first article for 2013 and I am glad to be back and writing down my thoughts. I read all the comments and try to gauge what is the level of our thinking and what are we thinking about. I would like to address both questions in order that we can move forward in our discussion. The intention is not to conclude who is right or wrong but it is important to recognize that our thinking do indicate changes in our perception and our action.

A little recap

Before going any further, let me summarize the little things that has happened around me. The preparation for PRU 13 has stepped up in tempo despite continued indecision by the Prime Minister. There are still a lot of uncertainty but all the same, planning and work have to continue for the election. I cannot say that the approach to the coming election is normal because of the gravity of the consequences to Malaysia if PR do not win Putra Jaya. So many things are stack against us Dayak and it is choking to say the least when we have enough evidences that the wealth of our land is being taken away from us for the creation of personal wealth by the country’s BN leaders.

Appointment to DAP as central Executive Committee member

Then I was appointed to the Central Executive Committee of DAP at the December 15th 2012 Convention and frankly I felt that I have to up the level of my political contribution and also to take a new role as a team member of the DAP national leadership. Thus, there are new expectation to be met. I even ponder on new political strategies to bring PRIDE and even COURAGE back to the Dayak in order for them to take action if they want to see change take place in Malaysia and specifically for the community.

Reinforcing Dayak pride and courage

The Gawai Kelingkang Batu Tempan Balang kena Nempa Ketuai Dayak ngiring bansa is very much on my mind. The Gawai will be on the 9th January till 11th ( 3 days and nights of timang) by a bard man from Ngemah, a lemambang Muyan. All are welcome. There will be no drinking and feasting but a series of ritual to invoke the fighting spirit of Dayak and to gain back our lost pride as the renowned Headhunters of Sarawak. We need this pride and courage today to make the change that we want. Fighter Balang of Batang Rejang fought the Raja because he refused to submit to the Raja tax. He was later betrayed by the Iban themselves, captured through trickery and killed.

Are we facing the same predicament but at a different time and situation? This lead us to the subject of thinking and wisdom – are we on the right track by fighting for change of Government from BN to PR? Read the rest of this entry »

A Malaysian Hero

January 4th, 2013

Taken from : Wikipedia

We see the passing of a Malaysian hero who fought for freedom for Malaysia. He hailed from Julau and is the  source of the famous Iban war cry of “Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban”. I wish to take this opportunity to convey my deep heart felt  condolences to his family and may he rest in peace. For with such bravery he has given us our peace.

PW 1 Temenggong Datuk Kanang anak Langkau, SP, PGB, PGBK (Rt) (1945 – January 3, 2013)

Dayak versus Dayak in History

December 10th, 2012

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony

(This is yet another article which appeared in the previous blog before. Happy reading Cikgu Iban)Dayak have been gullible, opportunist, self centered & easily exploited by others since time in memorial…written by Dr John Brayan Anthony 4th March 2010

Paranoid Politicians

I am not at all surprised when Nyarok Enterie won the VP post in recent SPDP TGM with full backing of Tiong King Sing. After all, the contender, who is my friend Philip Ngo is just testing the water. I am not surprised when Enteri Muran aka Mohd Abdullah and Nyarok Enteri resisted the motivational programmes conducted by Dayak Intellectuals – as they viewed such programmes as ‘eye opener’ “wake up call” for the longhouse folks & students – they are damm worried that their weaknesses be revealed to their voters! Typical of paranoid politicians and Jabu Numpang is the father of all paranoids!

Naïve & gullible

Whether we like or not, we have been very naïve, gullible and easy prey of sweet talks by others to serve their own need as far as our history can remember. I won’t discount the prowess of our fore father’s courage during the founding years of ‘ngerumpang batang, ngerumpang agang’, but in every strength we possess now and then, people easily exploit us and may continue to do so out of our own foolishness and the tunnel vision our leaders have had. From Gullible Dayak to new Dayak Leadership

December 10th, 2012

Written by: Dr John Brian Anthony15th Aug 2012 ( Resubmitted by Cikgu Iban)

First of all, let it be known that this article should not be written as it may have negative effect on Dayak. However, the truth must be told that the Dayak will be made to split further politically during this coming Election.

  1. Let us examine today’s scenario

where PRS is being challenged by the newly registered SWP, a political party that does not get any rebuke by the State leadership. Instead, it has been given a silent approval and sanction by the high ranking political leaders. Dr. James has to shout at the top of his voice to remind BN component parties of BN constitution .The constitution stipulates that for any party and its members to be admitted into BN fold, they must be a consensus by ALL parties. Even with the utterance of one odd voice from its current component parties, there would not be any admission into the fold. Dr. James would like to pre-empt such scenario by adopting and thinking of other strategies, should he find himself boxed into a corner. The key element of PRS strategy is “sediakan payong sebelum hujan”. As such, it must be fast enough to avoid a situation whereby “nasi sudah jadi bubur” before doing anything. The worst situation that PRS face is “di telan mati apai di luak mati indai” in their fight for survival. Read the rest of this entry »

Is Multi-racial party a threat in Sarawak

December 10th, 2012

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony 17th Aug 2012 9Submitted by Cikgu Iban)

It is quite common to see comments from contributors saying that partnering the Chinese in politics poses a bigger danger than partnering the Malays. There are several political partnerships that can be observed in Sarawak. The first one is the partnership which exists between the Malays and the Dayak in PBB. The second is the partnership between the Dayak and the Chinese in SUPP and the third is being the presence of some Chinese and the Dayak in SPDP. Until the dismissal of Larry Sng, PRS was then very much in similar situation but now this party is basically in existence for the Dayak only. In other words, we can see that the Dayak are partnering any other races in politics.

Dayak and Chinese in DAP

For the sake of our discussion, we shall talk about the partnership of the Dayak and the Chinese in DAP. Many people have questioned the sincerity of the Chinese as partners in politics. The Dayak are doubtful about the policies of this party in relation to the interests of the Dayak. Generally, the Dayak think that DAP is not for them. Actually, it is wrong to make a preconceived claim that DAP is exclusively for the Chinese. This is because its members are all along multi-racial and from various ethnic backgrounds. Oil and Gas Rights in Sarawak.

December 10th, 2012

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony

I was very disturb when I read the part that the Chief Minister of Sarawak has got his hand directly into our oil and gas resources working through a proxy called Rimbuna Hijau ( RHPetroGas Sdn Bhd) to rework certain oil and gas field in Sarawak. This is against the backdrop that Pakatan Rakyat promised to set up an independent Sarawak Oil and Gas company belonging to the State Government to maximize the already used up oil field. In this way, Sarawak can enjoy better revenue from oil in future and develop a company that has capability to go and prospect for oil overseas by acquiring experience, knowledge and skill working on home grown oil and gas environment. Why did the Chief Minister choose to be so selfish and greedy? Read the rest of this entry »

As sure as the sun rises tomorrow

December 10th, 2012

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony

“As sure as the sun rises tomorrow” the building of 12 big dams in Sarawak will continue said the Chief Minister of the Government in Sarawak. This is in response to Hydro Tasmania imminent withdrawal from the Murum dam project after being pressured by GREEN interest in Australia and other countries of the world after appeals for help from NGOs such as Save Rivers and many more. Actually, it does not seem like a pull out for people who are familiar with construction. It is more like demobilization process, that is expert stated leaving when their scope of work is completed. To say that Hydro Tasmania will pull out by end of 2013 is just at the end of the project. If the Hydro Tasmania leave immediately NOW that would have some impact and meaning to the construction of the Murum dam.

What does all of this mean – any bluff or lie by the Government and other stakeholders.

As the sun rises tomorrow

The line “as the sun rises tomorrow” stirred in me a strong sense of the implication of the word. Firstly in an old song, a lyric from a song entitled Tom Dooley it ran like this:

“As the sun rises tomorrow, you will be hang to die” Read the rest of this entry »
